Call for Abstracts
The application of advanced optical methods in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacology and other Health Care Sciences has been expanding rapidly in recent years. With an objective to provide a platform to interact scientific knowledge between basic scientists and clinicians, we cordially invite submissions to the tenth Optics Within Life Sciences (OWLS-10) conference, which is cosponsored by the International Commission of Optics (ICO). This meeting aims to serve as a forum for stimulating thoughts and disseminating research in areas connecting both photonics and clinical health care: FROM BENCH TOP TO CLINICAL PRACTICE.
Conference Themes
OWLS-10 welcomes contributions from researchers, clinicians and students in all related fields, given the multidisciplinary nature of the application of photonics in life sciences. The conference program includes peer-reviewed papers and a selected number of invited plenary lectures. Topics appropriate for submission are manifold. Examples of some of the areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Laser based diagnostics and therapy
- Laser based biomedical applications
- Holographic techniques in medical diagnostics
- Optics in environmental science
- Imaging technologies in medicine and biology
- Optical spectroscopy in biology and medicine
- Living cell imaging (green fluorescent protein)
- Fluorescence resonance energy transfer microscopy
- Digital signal processing and image reconstruction
- Fluorescence lifetime imaging
- Novel microscopy
- Confocal microscopy
- Near-field scanning microscopy
- Nonlinear microscopy (multi-photon, SHG, THG, CARS)
- Optical coherence tomography
- Optics in the humanities
- Optics in vision research
- Optical biosensors
- Bio-photomechanics (Moiré interferometry, Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry)
- Laser tweezers and trapping
- Interaction of laser radiation with biological media and materials (multiple scattering and imaging through turbid media)
- Photodynamic therapy
- Novel clinical applications
- Nanophotonics
Important
Submissions imply the intent of at least one author to register, attend the conference, present the paper (either orally or in poster format).
